All the news that's fit to.....

BlogHouston has been all over this, but I can't help but point out that the Chron is still getting its local news from Television broadcasts.

Police raided the Treasures club in the Galleria area Wednesday night, according to televised reports this morning.

Yeesh. What are they, keeping banker's hours over there at the Chron? If you couple this, cutting edge television watching with an increase in reliance on AP wires to cover National events (and where HAS the Washington Bureau been of late anyway?) you have to start to wonder if the only reporters still working for the Chron are the ones they share with other newspapers

What's disappointing about this (to me) is that the actual reporting of the Chron is the best part of the newspaper. On the rare occasions they produce hard hitting, local news it's typically very good. (Matt Stiles' reporting being a good example of this).

Editorially the Chron is a mess, but the front-line reporters are still very good. I'd just like to see more of the latter, and some sea-changes in the former.

And for God's sake, do some reporting will ya?
